Launched in March 1998, Kozmo.com revolutionized shopping by combining the promise of the Internet with the convenience of one-hour delivery. On April 12, 2001, the company shut down marking the  end to a whirlwind business odyssey that captured the highs and lows  of the Internet economy.
In reflection, we asked customers, former employees and those there  until the final hour, "What is Kozmo?" and heard a wide range of responses.   Read these comments and then, the company's history in its own words.

What is Kozmo?

"A very forward-looking Internet company whose fulfillment echoed what the net is all about: instant gratification."
"A combination retail and logistics company that offers the ultimate in customer service."  - Yong Kang, Kozmo Co-Founder
"The next step to making all of us reach an ultra-lazy stage where we never leave the house."
"The single best (worst?) example of the Internet IPO bubble."
"A great idea, but the execution had its shortfalls. No one ever could understand how they could turn a profit."
"It's like an adrenaline rush. Not quite like sex.  Not quite like drugs but exhilarating.  Definitely can't get you in trouble like the other two, either."
-  Former employee
"A godsend for the busy and tired. Yet another reason not to leave your keyboard."
"The best friend of lazy bastards like me. Weíll miss you, Kozmo."
"A great dream that was corrupted by poor management." - Former employee
"What was once a company is now a state of mind."
"The best time that I have ever had in my life.  Never have I seen a group of people so varied in background and ethnicity so pumped with enthusiasm and team spirit." - Former employee
"A waste of hundreds of millions of dollars."
"Kozmo was unique and really was a lifestyle-changing company and others will try to duplicate what we began." - Company Spokesperson
"Another f**ked dotcom. [In July 2000] Kozmo told Reuters they are planning more layoffs and have delayed their IPO until sometime next year. 'A sign of our strength, not our weakness'. Umm, yeah." - fuckedcompany.com
"Itís like riding one of the most emotional rollercoaster rides you will ever be on." - Joseph Park
